We have a big week ahead. There is something everyday. I will not be sending any homework home unless they do not finish work in class. All reading and library books are now due.
The children need to have a white T shirt and Levi shorts and pants for the dance festival.

Thank you parents and students for the wonderful time we had at our Readers Theater Tea. Your children were Fabulous.
In class we are reviewing things in reading and working on getting our measurment unit finished.
I have just glanced at the animal reports but what I saw was very impressive. Thank You for helping with this project.

WE HAVE BEEN PRACTISING FOR OUR BIG EVENT THIS COMING FRIDAY.
READERS THEATER TEA: TRACK 1 READING GROUP WILL BE AT 8:15 AND TRACK 2 WILL BE AT 2:20 IN THE KIVA IN THE LIBRARY. WE WILL BE DOING TWO PLAYS THAT WILL LAST APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES TOTAL. WE INVITE ALL PARENTS AND CHILDREN AT HOME TO COME AND WATCH. THERE WILL BE COOKIES AND LEMONADE IN MRS. KITCHEN'S ROOM AFTER.

Animal Report instructions were sent home on April 30th. They are due May 11th. They are to be written as a book with a Table of Contents, Glossary and Index. The children actually got the booklet to write their reports in and they worked all week on a rough draft.
There Pre Test on double digit addition and subtraction went home on Monday (We took this test 2 months ago and after studying all the strategies we are getting close to taking the test. We will be taking the test in 1 week.
No more summaries for homework and we have finished our sight words.

April 6th
Reading: This week we have been working on speed and refining our summaries.
Math: We learned to subtract using negative numbers and we used Jelly Beans and marshmellows to work on subtracting with regrouping. We will be reviewing this after Spring Break.
Social Studies: We made our puppet children for the Antartica.
Science: We have been studying rocks. We have been comparing the different types of rocks the children have brought in. We read 2 books on rocks that looked at they way rocks break up and ways we use rocks in our everyday life. We also made a sandwich that showed how sedimentary rocks are formed.

Reading: We have been working on finding important details in non fiction text.
In small groups I introduced a graphic organizer to help with writing summaries.
We finished our Non Fiction Text Feature books.
Writing: We have been working on writing a Procedure Paper.
Math: We continue to study different strategies for subtracting 2 digit numbers without regrouping.
Science: We finished up Matter and the children have started to bring their rocks. Every child needs to bring 3 rocks the size if their fist or smaller to school.
